Egerton Park

Egerton Park

Egerton Park is the town's main recreation park with lakes, children's play areas, tennis courts and refreshment kiosk. Bexhill Museum, which has a natural history section, is also within the park but the entrance is in Egerton Road.

Although the gardens are all planted the park attracts a variety of birds and other wild animals. The pools have a resident population of mallards and moorhens, and there are always gulls and feral pigeons to be seen. Occasional visitors have recently included a pair of Egyptian Geese and some Little Egrets. The usual garden birds are always present; sparrows, blackbirds, robins etc.

Bees, wasps and hoverflies can always be found on the flowers during the summer along with other more secretive insects. Ladybirds and flower beetles are two that are easy to spot.
